Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. The mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.
This year, Highland will be hosting a Potluck & Packing Party on Sunday, October 22nd, after Sunday Morning Worship. We will share a meal together (Highland will provide fried chicken, we ask you bring a side dish or dessert to share), and then we will pack at least 50 shoeboxes together. Between now and then, we ask that you bring donations for shoebox gifts and drop them in the big bin in the foyer. We need:
Items NOT to bring: candy, toothpaste, gum, used/damaged items, seeds, food, liquids, lotions, medication, vitamins, breakable items, glass, aerosol cans Also each Sunday, during announcements, we will have kiddos coming around to collect donations to cover the shipping of these boxes, which is $10 per shoebox. |
